Cookies and similar technologies.
Which cookies this site uses, what they are for, how long they last and how you can choose. Extended notice under Art. 13 GDPR, Art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code and the cookie guidelines of the Italian data protection authority of 10 June 2021.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a site saves on your device to remember some information. There are also similar technologies, such as the browser’s local storage (localStorage), which work in a similar way: on this page we call them all “cookies”. Technical cookies are needed for the site to work and do not require your consent; the others, such as the Google Analytics statistics cookies, are only activated if you consent.
Technical cookies (always active)
They are necessary to use the site and cannot be switched off from the banner: they remember the language you chose and the light/dark theme, keep your session when you log in to the Client area (the session cookie is only created after you log in and expires after inactivity) and save your cookie choice. The full list is at the bottom of this page.
Statistics cookies: Google Analytics (only with your consent)
If you press “Accept all”, or switch on “Statistics cookies” under “Customise”, we load Google Analytics 4, Google’s statistics service (Google Ireland Limited; Google LLC in the United States). It collects aggregate data such as pages visited, length of visit, device and browser type, approximate geographic area and referring site, linked to a random identifier stored in two cookies (_ga and _ga_73D11G0ZDC) that last up to 2 years. Advertising and personalisation features are switched off and, according to Google, Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Statistics data is kept for a maximum of 14 months. Until you consent, the site sends no request to Google and no Analytics cookie is stored.
Built-in visit counter
To know which pages are read we also use a simple counter on our own site: it only records the page opened, the language, the type of device and the referring website, in aggregate form, without cookies and without storing IP addresses or identifiers. It is not a cookie and does not need your consent.
No profiling, no advertising
We do not use profiling or advertising cookies. The site does not embed third-party content (videos, maps, social buttons): the links to Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and Google Maps are plain links, and the cookies of those sites are only stored if you open them.
How to choose and change your mind
On your first visit a banner appears with the choices “Accept all”, “Reject all” and “Customise”, plus a close X: rejecting or closing the banner is the same as using only technical cookies (“Essential only”) and does not affect how you use the site. Under “Customise” you can switch statistics cookies on or off. Your choice is remembered on your device for 180 days, after which we will ask again. You can change it at any time from “Cookie preferences”, the small link at the bottom of every page: if you withdraw consent, Analytics stops and its cookies are deleted.
Managing cookies from your browser
You can also block or delete cookies from your browser settings (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge…): the instructions are in each browser’s help. Blocking technical cookies may stop some parts of the site from working, such as the Client area. To opt out of Google Analytics across the board you can also install the opt-out browser add-on provided by Google (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
